Annual Service Projects

CROP Walk

Christ the Redeemer hosts the Lake Orion/Oxford CROP Walk as we unite with area churches in a common goal of providing for those in need. The needs vary across the world. Money supports long term needs such as water, or agricultural development as well as short term disaster relief provided by a variety of church organizations. 20% stays in our own community.

In the past, the walk has started at Christ the Redeemer and goes through Orion Oaks park and returns back to Christ the Redeemer. A 1 1/2 mile walk is also available. Walk with our family, friends, and a few hundred of your neighbors.

Dinner Donations

In the past, our local food pantry, Oxford/Orion FISH will once again feed our hungry by supplying needy families with a complete Thanksgiving meal. There are three ways to donate:

  • Cash donation
  • Purchase a gift card to Meijer or Kroger for meat and perishable items.
  • Purchase non-perishable items for a family to prepare dinner.

Giving Tree

Giving trees are located in the vestibule. Tags hung from the tree designate gift ideas and age of recipient. In the past we have assisted individuals from Lighthouse, Children’s Village and St. Dominics Outreach Center in Detroit.

Tags for Lighthouse and St. Dominic also have food items listed to help stock the food pantry.

Adopt a Family

  • Thanksgiving-Christ the Redeemer responds to the specific needs of a few needy families, providing Thanksgiving dinner as well as some other staple foods.
  • Christmas-Gifts are purchased and/or Christmas dinner for an assigned needy family. Specific gift ideas are given. Wrapped gifts are delivered to the church on a designated date.
  • Easter-This program entails buying and Easter meal for a family along with and some staple foods and/or paper products.
