CHILD PROTECTION INFORMATION

Statement by Fr Bill at all Masses for the Weekend of Feb 19/20

“Christ the Redeemer Parish and the archdiocese are aware of a locally-recorded YouTube video and the serious allegations it claims to have uncovered. Individuals with any knowledge of sexual abuse by a church representative are urged to contact local law enforcement, the Michigan Attorney General or the Archdiocese of Detroit. Every complaint shared with the archdiocese, regardless of its source or the date of the alleged activity, is reported to civil authorities. No complaints are held back, pre-screened or disregarded.

“This is the statement I was given to read. I wish I could say more, but I am not permitted to do so.”

Dear CTR Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Formation and  Sacramental Prep Families,

Christ the Redeemer Parish and the Archdiocese of Detroit along with local law enforcement are aware of a locally-recorded YouTube video and the serious allegations it claims to have uncovered. We want you to be aware that the person in question is not now and has not been involved as a volunteer at our parish for several years. But this video has understandably caused an increased level of suspicion and concern regarding the safety of children in our community.

Please know that we take numerous measures to ensure your child’s safety while in our care. Prior to working with children, adult volunteers undergo a background check and sign a Code of Conduct. They are required to attend a Protecting God’s Children © session to learn more about keeping children safe.

At least two adults are present in classes, childcare or other activities. Each year in faith formation we present lessons from the archdiocese’s “Circle of Grace” program which help children to be aware of inappropriate behaviors from others and encourage them to talk with a trusted adult about behaviors that make them uncomfortable.

We thank you for entrusting your children into our care as we go forward in faith.

PS.  Lisa Andridge has resigned her position as administrative assistant.  Future communications will come from other CTR formation team members. We are accepting resumes for this part-time position as assistant to the directors of worship and discipleship formation.
